Office: Representatie Brandt Iden

Caucus: Republican

Description: This is an hourly position in the Lansing office of State Representative Brandt Iden. Hours required are flexible and could fall anywhere between 25-35 hours per week (with opportunity for full time, 40 hours per week depending on applicant availability and office requirements). The office is willing to work with the right applicant to find a schedule that benefits both the individual and the office.

This position will be focused on performing research, legislative, and constituent duties. Responsibilities include research and tracking legislation, preparation of materials for legislative committees, other office staff, session and district events, and offering constituent services. The position requires strong analytical, writing, and communication skills and an ability to work under deadlines. Flexibility for occasional travel to the district (Kalamazoo County) is also required, including for attending in-district community events and meetings as necessary.  

Salary Range:  $12.00 - $15.00 per hour based on experience, background and schedule availability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required – The applicant must be dependable, trustworthy, and resourceful; detail oriented and possess strong administrative, organizational, and clerical skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required. Applicant must be self-motivated with good work ethic and must have a positive and professional attitude with a desire to learn.
  • Preferred – The applicant should either possess a Bachelor’s degree or be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree. Prior office experience, along with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and telephone skills are desired.
