Legislative Intern

Description: The office of State Representative Rashida Tlaib is currently looking to fill two internship positions for the 2013 Fall semester. Interns would be expected to provide assistance to the Representative and members of their staff ranging in the areas of legislation, communications, constituent affairs, general office management, and miscellaneous tasks. Some responsibilities will include answering phones, monitoring legislation, research, and written correspondence to groups and individuals within the 6th District. Students will gain valuable hands-on office experience in a fast-paced environment. Hours are negotiable. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Salary Range: This is an unpaid position, but college credit is possible. (See your school’s Internship Coordinator)

Minimum Qualifications: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Previous office experience and knowledge of the Legislature and legislative process is a plus but not required. Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required. Bilingual skills (Spanish and Arabic) are a plus.
