Office: Rep. Haines
Description: A Legislative Intern will assist Representative Haines and her staff with constituent affairs and communications, general office management and miscellaneous tasks related to pending and upcoming legislation, committee hearings and constituent inquiries. Some responsibilities will include answering phones, monitoring legislation, research and written correspondence to groups and individuals within the 43rd District. Students will gain valuable hands-on office experience in a fast-paced environment. Hours are negotiable. They will also have opportunities to network and attend committee hearings, briefings, House sessions and other state and local government related functions.
Salary Range: This is an unpaid position, but college credit is possible. (See your school’s Internship Coordinator.)
Minimum Qualifications: Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work efficiently and independently. Knowledge of the Legislature and the legislative process is a plus but not required. Basic computer skills are required, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
