Republican Legislative Intern
General Description

This is a part-time non-paid position in Representative Bill Rogers' Lansing office.  This person will provide assistance to the Constituent Relations Director and the Policy Director, as well as the Representative.  Responsibilities will include answering telephones and taking messages, filing, database entering, word processing, some constituent relations, as well as attendance at luncheons and meetings.  This position will also involve legislative and appropriations research on behalf of the Representative and his staff.  Hours are negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications

Previous office experience is a bonus.  Knowledge of the Legislature, the legislative process, and the appropriation process is not required, however, beneficial.  Applicants must be confident in their writing skills and provide a writing sample with their resume.  Applicants must be motivated, able to work on their own, and be extremely responsible.  In addition, applicants must have good communication skills.  Computer skills and knowledge of all other Microsoft Office applications is required.
